Being a parent of two children who dance, Disco freestyle in competitions, I find it difficult and time consuming finding information on the internet pertaining to disco, in the past if you wanted to find anything out, you would have to scroll through forum after forum, digging deeper and deeper until you eventualy found what you wanted.

Yesterday I found a brand new website, which is a breath of fresh air,  http://yourthedancer.com  is only about a week old but it is what I have been looking for, since my children started dancing.

First of all if you are looking for competitions in the UK and Eire there is a page for each country, each page lists upcoming competitions in order of month, no need to scroll through forums anymore they are all there.

Secondly the site is trying to compile a list of Freestyle disco schools in the UK and Eire, they don’t have alot of information yet though but I am sure the list will grow and grow as the site gets more popular.

The next thing you notice about yourthedancer.com is that they have a live chat room and a forum, the chat room is very basic but it does the job it is meant for, the forums i feel could become quite popular because as it says on the site anything goes , so long as the language is clean they even let you link your website in the forums.

You can also buy and sell second hand costumes on the site, send in your pictures and send your dance horror stories or other stories.

I emailed the owners of the site asking what the future held, they replied “we have alot of ideas in the pipe-line but we would rather wait until the site increases in popularity before we consider them, we would like suggestions from the site users on what they would like added to yourthedancer, because we are commited to giving our users what they want, as the name suggests you are the dancer the site is for you.”

I must admit I do like this site, it is short on information but i am sure with time this will be rectified, it makes it alot easier for us parents to find information and although the graphics are basic the simplicity of the site will see it through, I found the site through Stumbleapon , lets hope it gets easier for people to find. I wish you guys alot of success .

Hubpages Hall of Fame

Last night I wrote my 400th page on hubpages and became the first author to make it into the hall of fame, this probably doesn’t mean very much to you ,but when you consider that I now have 400 pages on the Internet and each of them contain Google ads it starts to become a little more interesting, think about it four hundred pages if I could get $1.OO from clicks on each page every month that would earn me $400 a month,sounds not bad now doesn’t it,especialy when you think that those pages will be there forever and I wouldn’t have to write another page.
I could sit back,relax and not have to lift another finger and I could still earn every month.

Do you like to write?. you can now make some money for your writing at hubpages.com and it wont cost you a single cent to join,you get paid from advertising on your page from Ebay, Amazon, and also from Google adsense.
You are free to write about absolutely anything from a personal blog , history, poetry .product reviews,travel reviews,whats in the news or anything you can think about .

First things first: the sign up, sign up is very easy and as hubpages promise “it only takes a minute”.
after you have signed up you can then edit your profile this is very easy too and you can upload a photograph from your computer,and then you can write a short biography of yourself.
once you have done that click on your account link and set up your affiliation with Ebay, Amazon and Google.
and now you are ready to creat your first hub.

Creating a hub:
Creating a hub is made very easy by the hubpages team,when you click on create a new hub,
you give your hub a name which will become your hubs web address,then in the boxes below you add tags to your pages which help people navigate to your chosen topic.
then click done and you are ready to write your hub.
On the edit page you will see 3 capsules 1 for text 1 for a photo and 1 for comments, click on edit on the text capsule and put in your Headline,then just write or copy and paste your story into the main text box,you can change the color of the textbox to blue or grey or you can keep your page the default white.
if you wish to add a picture to you hub the click on edit picture and uplod a picture from your hard drive or from a web page , you can also add capsules from a menu on the right hand side, link capsules,text,video,pictures and even rss capsules ofcourse you want advertising this is also where you add your ebay and amazon ad capsules. you can also move capsules around the page and have pictures and text on the same level.
when you are happy with your page click on publish and you have finished.

I like hubpages because it is very easy to use,you get an instant readership to your pages the site looks good,they have a ratings system that updates every 10 minutes and its totaly free to use, there are links on every page to digg reddit and del.icio.us which can get you a massive readership in minutes and of course the money,you get paid by clicks on google adsense and people who buy products advertised on your page for ebay and amazon, it can take a few days before you start making money from your ads but once the revenue starts coming in you know it has been worth your while.
the only drawback I could find with hubpages, was the lack of color in the pages but an easy remedy for that is to add pictures or video to your page.
on a scale of 1-10, I have to give Hubpages a 9 out of ten.
If you are a writer i would highly recommend hubpages give it a try you never know where it may lead…..jimmy

Las Vegas

I have been hard at work these past few weeks ,on a set of hubpages, reviewing every hotel and casino on the Las Vegas strip, I think I have them all covered now and I hope all of my work pays off ,my adsense account will be the tester, if I start making money from it, then I will Know that I wasn’t wasting my time.

google beat tv advertising revenue

The search engine googleuk has according to a BBC report has taken over from commercial television in the UK for commerciaL advertising,with profits of of up to £900million $1,717,416,000 beating the uk’s channel 4 with £800million 1,500,000,000 it is also expected to beat ITV within 18 months.

 

What’s not clear is how parasitic the relationship between online and offline advertising is. It’s too early to tell whether advertisers are turning away from television onto the Web, or if they’re supplementing TV ads with online versions.

some have said that this could be the death of tv as more people go online .

i read in todays news paper that scientist believe that the secret of the mona lisa smile in the painting is because she has just given birth,yeah right after 22 hours of labour and cpain my wife looked so enigmatic…..jimmy

My Wife

My wife Alison and I have been married just over 10 years and i love her to bits, but yesterday 1 of her friends came to visit us and my wife shocked me to the bone her friend said to her “you and Jimmy are the closest couple i know” Alison quick as a flash said ”I dont love him ,i only stay with him to Make him suffer ” .

Our sense of humor is on a level par so i retorted just as quickly saying”its true we hate each other i only let her have kids to watch her going through the pain of childbirth”.

I am the 1 when she asks “does my bum look big in this ?” who says” my darling you have a big bum so your bum looks big in everything”.

no matter what obstacles life throws our way our sense of humor and our love for each other always sees us through,I lost both of my parents recently within 6 months of each other, Alison has been my rock and I love her more with each minute that passes.

Cars

Yesterdays posting got me thinking again lol i got a sore head now after comparing fuel prices i decided to try something else so fuel led me to price a car in the U.K compared to the U.S and i nearly fell over when i saw the difference.

To start with i had to find a car that was sold in the U.S and also in the U.K, i settled on the Ford Focus.

In the U.S the car was priced at$13.995 which =£7.385

in the U.K however the car was priced at£13.367 which=$25.333.

what more can i say lol i told you we Britts sit back and take it with a cup of tea and a stiff upper lip but i couldnt believe that we pay almost double what the Americans pay for the same car the joke is most definatley on us and i for 1 dont find it funny.

fuel for thought

I`ve been doing some calculating today,working out the price of a gallon of petrol here in the U.K compared to the price of a gallon of petrol in the US. and boy are we in the U.K being taken for a ride. For starters we dont pay by the gallon of petrol we pay by the litre,there are approx 3.7 litres to the gallon which costs £1.00 for 1 litre  making it £3.70 per gallon of petrol in the U.K  at todays dollars exchange rate £1.00 = $1.90 that means that for 1 gallon of petrol in the U.K costs $7.03  in the US the most expensive gallon of petrol is $2.20 now i think if they were paying what we Britts pay in any other country in the world there would be rioting in the streets ,but we Britts just sit back and take it with a cup of tea we should stand up for our rights and fight back but we dont, we accept what our government throws at us and ask for more. if you have anything to say about any of my posts please feel free to leave a comment thankyou and have fun….. jimmy
